You can’t land on our marketing website without understanding what we do and how we help our clients, right? Actually, it isn’t obvious at all. Before we start on the ads, before we build the landing pages, before we configure the tracking, there is often a lot of other, invisible work.
A digital rescue operation. Literally. Unfortunately, over the past year many clients have contacted us who were disappointed with the agencies or specialists they had worked with. Well, disappointed is putting it mildly. From situations where thousands were being spent every month without properly configured tracking – to outright lies such as “we can add a courier integration for you, but it will cost as much as the whole WP site so far”. Or “you spend 5,000 = you earn 15,000, guaranteed”… and plenty of other marketing absurdities.
And the problems continue – they have no access to their FB Business Manager, no access to Google Analytics or Tag Manager (when these exist at all). Often, when the client has had enough and walks away from such brazen operators, they refuse to hand over access and won’t cooperate in ending the relationship properly.
I know many colleagues will understand us – on both sides. For those reading this who don’t: it is important to know that you should have access to everything you pay for. Not just access – it should be created through your own accounts, or at least full access should be handed over to you right from the start. Nobody can own the access to your website after they have built it and you have paid for it. Every Facebook page created for your business is your property, every ad account, Google account and so on – they are yours. Ask for them.
And finally – no magic happens at marketing agencies, even if you are promised it. If the product or the business isn’t right, it will have to be fixed. Marketing is a process; if it isn’t working, at the very least we will tell you WHY it isn’t working. It is up to you whether you listen to our advice or close the business. But before you start on marketing, put your business’s digital assets in order – otherwise you are getting nowhere.
