Successful Facebook advertising takes more than uploading a banner and choosing an audience. See the most common mistakes – from a lack of strategy and proper financial calculations to neglecting creatives and the landing page – and how to avoid them to achieve sustainable results.

At first glance, Facebook Ads look simple – you upload a banner, choose an audience, launch and wait for results. But if you have ever managed a real ad account, you know it isn’t that linear. Without a strategy, good preparation and the right process, even the most attractive ad won’t lead to sales.
At Evol.bg we regularly audit ad accounts – and whatever the niche or budget, we see the same mistakes holding back growth. Here they are, and how you can avoid them.
The most common trap: advertising “blind”. Many businesses start without a proper understanding of the market, without a funnel, without a clear message and without knowing what makes them different.
🛠 Solution:
Start with planning. Do some basic research, define your brand positioning, map out the funnel (cold, warm and hot traffic) and choose the right messages for each stage. A good plan doesn’t guarantee success, but not having one almost certainly leads to failure.
Don’t know what CPA is profitable for you? Then you have no way of telling whether your advertising is working. We have seen campaigns with a decent ROAS that are actually losing money – simply because not all costs were included.
Solution:
Be clear about:
That way you will know when your campaign is genuinely making money, rather than just “ticking over”.
We often see perfect ads that lead to a landing page with a chaotic structure, slow loading or an unclear message. The result: a high bounce rate and money down the drain.
Solution:
The landing page should:
Relying on just one banner or video is a recipe for audience fatigue. Without testing, there is no way of knowing what works.
Solution:
Use a variety of formats:
Remember: different audiences respond differently. Meta is not a lottery – test, measure, adapt.
Comments are not just a social feature – they are a signal of engagement and trust. Many brands ignore them, and sometimes unanswered questions or negative comments pile up and are left hanging.
🛠 Solution:
Handle the comments – reply quickly, even to the awkward ones. If you can, follow up with a private message. That way you build a connection, avoid misunderstandings and improve the performance of your campaign (Meta rewards engagement).
A real example from our work: a client switched off a successful ad after a holiday campaign ended. The result? For the next month and a half they could not get back to the same results. The reason: Meta lost the momentum, the learning phase and the overall stability of the account.
Solution:
If you have an ad that works, don’t stop it abruptly. You can:
Consistency is often more important than creativity.
Facebook advertising is not “set and forget”. It takes thought, testing, analysis and continuous improvement. Every one of the mistakes above can be fixed – as long as you spot it in time.
If you recognise any of them in your own account, you can get in touch with us for a free audit or a strategy consultation. We won’t promise you a ROAS of 10+ from day one – but we will show you the way there.
